چکیده

This paper introduces the concept of nonlocal Acoustic Black Hole (ABH) metastructure and explores, via numerical analyzes, corresponding vibration attenuation performance. Building on basic ABH metastructure, which is a thin plate waveguide with embedded periodic grids ABHs, this work explores feasibility using intentionally introduced nonlocality to expand dynamic operating range absorbers. The design expressively conceived address two-fold objective lowering cut-on frequency an individual extending towards lower part spectrum (or, equivalently, longer wavelengths). role transient steady state response investigated dedicated semi-analytical model. Different designs are presented their performances compared models. Results show remarkable ability achieve significant behavior in low bandwidth.

Composite 3D-printed metastructures for low-frequency and broadband vibration absorption.

Architected materials that control elastic wave propagation are essential in vibration mitigation and sound attenuation. Phononic crystals and acoustic metamaterials use band-gap engineering to forbid certain frequencies from propagating through a material. However, existing solutions are limited in the low-frequency regimes and in their bandwidth of operation because they require impractical s...

Broadband acoustic projector for low-frequency synthetic aperture sonar application

Possibilities for increased mine detection and classification techniques have established a need for broadband, underwater acoustic projectors. An advanced version of a low frequency synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) for the mine reconnaissance hunter program has recently been developed. The transducer is resonant at 100 kHz but has been designed to deliver constant high sound pressure levels over...

Broadband and Low Frequency Vibration-based Energy Harvesting Improvement through Magnetically Induced Frequency Up- Conversion

In order to extract as much energy as possible from ambient vibrations, many vibration-based energy harvesters (VEHs) are designed to resonate at a specific base excitation frequency. Unfortunately, many vibration energy sources are low frequency (0.5 Hz-100 Hz), intermittent, and broadband. Thus, resonant VEHs would not be excited continuously and would require a large mass or size to tune to ...

Passive Acoustic Thermometry Using Low-Frequency Deep Water Noise

Our previous research effort has demonstrated that coherent processing of shipping noise (100Hz<f<kHz) in shallow water can provide a totally passive means for sensing the ocean environment; but optimizing this correlation process for this relatively high frequency band remains challenging in a fluctuating ocean environment with significant multipath. We hypothesize that using instead significa...

Excitation of low-frequency QPOs in black hole accretion

We study possible mechanisms of excitation of quasiperiodic oscillations in the accretion flow of black hole accreters in their hard spectral states, in the context of the ‘truncated disk’ model. Quasi-spherical oscillations of the inner ion-supported accretion flow (ISAF) can be excited by the interaction of this hot flow with the cool disk extending outward from it. The fundamental mode of (p...
